On February 28, 2022 Bill was called home by our Heavenly Father. He was born in Waukon, Iowa on October 15, 1932 to Vern and Bernice Downing. He was one of six children. He had four brothers, Dean who resides in Postville, Iowa. Robert, Neale and Gary who preceded him in death. One sister, the apple of their eyes, Darlene Kadera also preceded him in death.

Wanda Schlein, 95, of Oelwein passed away Thursday February 10, 2022 at Oelwein Healthcare Center.  Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 PM on Thursday February 17, 2022 at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein.  Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday February 18, 2022 at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery at Fayette.   A memorial fund has been established.  www.geilenfeldfh.com.

Eugene (Gene) Leslie Suddendorf, 96, of Postville, Iowa passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, Iowa. Eugene was born September 23, 1925 to Arthur Frederick and Martha Elizabeth (Montour) Suddendorf on a farm in Monona Township in Clayton County, Iowa.

Eugene was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. He was baptized on May 9, 1926, at Pilgrim Evangelical Church in Monona. He was confirmed March 24, 1940, at St Paul Lutheran Church in Monona. He attended Evergreen Grove County School in Monona.

Nick Heckman, age 57, of Lawler, IA, died Friday, January 28, 2022, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner.

Nick William Heckman was born December 16, 1964, in Postville, IA, the son of Leslie and Sherill (Rekow) Heckman. He grew up in Postville and, as a boy, he loved his summers at the town pool. Nick received his education in Postville, where he was involved in football and baseball, before graduating with the Class of 1983. He furthered his education at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, where he majored in criminal justice.
