Karen Kay Miene
Karen Kay Miene, 75 of Monona, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Crossing Rivers Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Karen was born March 21, 1947 to Harland and Shirley (Moon) Kutzbach in Farmersburg, Iowa. She was baptized, confirmed, and married, all at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg. She graduated from MFL High School in 1965.
On September 25, 1965, Karen was united in marriage with Wayne Miene. Three sons were born to this union. Throughout the years, Karen was a daycare provider, worked at the Isle of Capri, and the hospitals in Prairie and Waukon. She enjoyed preparing for all the holidays for her family especially baking Christmas cookies and decorating her home. Her and Wayne enjoyed short trips together before his passing. They attended all of their grandchildren’s extra curricular activities when they could, something Karen continued as recently as two days before her passing, meeting her new great granddaughter and seeing her great grandson play baseball on the trip. Karen and her sister Kathy spent a lot of time together helping one another with many errands. She also enjoyed keeping up her yard and flowers. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving Karen are her sons, Tom (Angie) Miene of Wilton, Trent (Melissa) Miene of Monona, and Trace (Sherri) Miene of Farmersburg; grandchildren, Stephanie (Kyle Biddle) Miene of Bennett, Ashley (Jason) Feldman of Wilton, Ryan (Kelly) Waack of Wilton, Meghan (Ryan) Kirkey of Wilton, Autumn (Jeremy Cline) Miene of Cedar Rapids, Elizabeth Miene of Cedar Rapids, Esben Miene of Monona, Kale Miene of Cedar Falls, and Landyn Miene of Farmersburg; great-grandchildren, Kolby and Hadley Feldman, Kai and Ava Waack, and Poppy Biddle; siblings, Keith (Dixie) Kutzbach of Davenport, and Kathy (Jim) Wagner of Monona; sisters-in-law, Erma Swenson of Luana, Karla Miene of Decorah, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Karen in death were her husband, Wayne on November 4, 2013; her parents, Harland and Shirley Kutzbach; in-laws, Fred & Frances Miene, four brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Monday.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, July 11, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg with Rev. Jeremy Wolfe as the officiant.
Burial will follow at Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery in Farmersburg.
