Aaron Noel Cook

Aaron Noel Cook, age 65, of Storm Lake, Iowa died on August 24, 2022, at the Fonda Specialty Care Center in Fonda, Iowa.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, October 14, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be prior to the service from 4-6:30 p.m. at the FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Aaron Noel Cook was born on October 25, 1956 in Postville, Iowa to Noel and Rochelle (Schultz) Cook. He grew up attending St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and was confirmed in 1972. Aaron received his education from Postville Elementary and graduated from Postville High School in 1975. Aaron then attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and graduated in 1979. He worked for Lester Buildings pouring concrete for several years before moving to Storm Lake, Iowa.

On September 2, 1978, Aaron married Julie Frieden in Waukon, Iowa. The couple was blessed with four children: Jessica, Casey, Cody, and Colt. On January 1, 2010, Aaron remarried and was united in marriage to Pom Kavan.

After moving to Storm Lake, Aaron attended the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. He was a law enforcement officer for the Storm Lake Police Department (SLPD) for many years. During his career, he was a Firearms Instructor, Technical Accident Reconstructionist and Field Training Officer. He received the first ever Officer of the Year award at the SLPD and was known for being a mentor to other officers. Aaron was an original member of the Storm Lake Entry Team, where he was a Team Leader and Sniper. He was a member of the Iowa Tactical Officers Association and served a term as President of the Storm Lake Police Officers Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed being with his brothers in blue and formed many lasting friendships. Aaron had the honor of being the founding father and President of 3 Guys Concrete.

Aaron was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed watching sporting events. More than anything, he loved his time spent with his children and grandkids.  He especially enjoyed cheering on his granddaughter at her events and was looking forward to doing the same with his grandsons. Following his passing, Aaron’s brain was donated by the family for the advancement of science and research. Aaron will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Aaron is survived by his mother, Rochelle Cook of Postville, Iowa; children: Jessica Cook of Johnston, Iowa; Casey (Yari) Cook of Jacksonville, Florida; Cody (Mai) Cook of Storm Lake, Iowa; Colt (Katie) Cook of Harrisburg, South Dakota; brothers: Collin (Brenda) Cook of Luana, Iowa; Corey (Krista) Cook of Marysville, Washington; Dorn Cook of Gilbert, Arizona; sister: Lynn (Terry) Hangartner of Byron, Minnesota; grandchildren: Mikayla Cook of Storm Lake, Iowa; Barrett Cook of Harrisburg, South Dakota; Greyson Cook of Harrisburg, South Dakota; Aidan Cook-Carlomagno of Jacksonville, Florida; cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Aaron is preceded in death by his father, Noel Cook.
