Three Pirates selected for All-Tournament Team at Decorah Tournament; Hughes, Camarillo and Marroquin go 5-0 on the day

Thursday the Pirates wrestled in dual action against Clayton Ridge and North Fayette Valley. Mac Hughes had two pins on the night. Alfonzo Vazquez moved up a weight in the match against Clayton Ridge and ended up getting a major decision. His coach said, “It was great to see him do well. It had been a while since he had wrestled.”

Decorah Tournament

At the Decorah Tournament the Pirates went 2-3 on the day. Hughes, Camarillo and Elfego Marroquin were the team leaders as the trio each went 5-0 in the tournament and made the all-tournament team. Hughes had three pins on the day as he gains more confidence. Isaac Steffans, wrestling in his first varsity tournament, got a pin.

Thursday the Pirates wrestle in dual action at MFL MarMac against the Bulldogs and Turkey Valley. Wrestling starts at 6 p.m. Saturday the varsity and junior varsity head to Greene for the North Butler tournament. Coach Schultz said, “It will be nice to head west and see some different competition on Saturday.”
