Retired Police Chief Mike Halse and his wife, Denise chosen as Hometown Celebration Parade Grand Marshals

Mike Halse, who retired June 1 as Postville Chief of Police, and his wife, Denise, have been chosen to be the Grand Marshals of this year’s Hometown Celebration parade. The Parade will commence Friday night at 7 p.m. in downtown Postville and will kick-off the Big Four Fair Celebration. As Halse has severed the City of Postville since 1990, the couple was an obvious choice to lead this year’s parade.

As Mike prepares to retire, Denise will continue to work part-time at the Postville Public Library. She said, “I retired a few years ago after a long career at Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation and am now enjoying working a few hours a week at the library which will still give us plenty of time to enjoy life.”

While reflecting, Mike said, “I really want to thank the community, the school district, my co-workers and city officials for the support I have received throughout the years. It has been a rewarding career and Postville has been a good place to call home.”

Be sure to watch for Mike and Denise as they lead the Hometown Parade and wish them well if you seen them this weekend at the fair.
