RC&D hosts meeting to discuss Revitalization Planning Project and What’s Next for Postville

Last Wednesday afternoon a group of about 20 Postville business people and residents met with Nathan Thompson and others from RC&D to discuss the Postville Revitalization Planning Project. In essence they met to discuss “What’s Next” for Postville.

At the meeting coordinator, Nathan Thompson, began by explaining the parameters of the project. The  project, he noted,  is an effort to meet community needs and revitalize industrial and commercial areas of Postville. The boundaries for the project include downtown Postville and most of the land along the railroad tracks. Thompson explained that community members will help form a vision for Postville’s future and determine what kind of investments they would like to see in the area and where they should be built.

It was noted, that no matter what projects are chosen, RC&D will lead the community outreach, manage the grant and write the plan. Yet, members from all of Postville’s communities will be involved in shaping the content and direction of the plan. An advisory committee will guide the development of the plan and implementation strategies.

It was emphasized that the project is a way for anyone to share their ideas and vision for Postville. It is a way to talk about these things and share thoughts at upcoming meetings or by contacting RC&D directly. Anyone interested may also search for @postvilleplanning on Facebook and Instagram. RC&D may also be contacted by phone at (563) 864-7112 or by stopping in at their office which is located at 101 East Greene Street, Postville.
