Postville Public Library receives $3,000 pledge for roof replacement

Fundraising efforts toward replacing the roof at the Postville Public Library have received a significant boost with a $3,000 pledge from local natural gas utility Black Hills Energy.

Black Hills Energy today presented an initial donation of $1,000 to library director Cindy Berns.  The library is vital to the community and provides over 20,000 resources, including books, magazines, videos, computers with internet access, newspapers, puzzles and local historical information.  The library is used every day by patrons in and around the Postville area.

“A recent energy audit revealed that the roof’s rubber membrane is failing,” Berns said.  “The plan is to replace the current roof structure with an insulated steel roof.  This will also provide savings on our heating and cooling bills.”
