Postville City Council amends budget, approves computer purchase for police department

The Postville City Council met in regular session Monday, February 11 with all members present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Leigh Rekow with members Larry Moore, Ross Malcom, Mary Straate, Mary Engstrom and Don Miller present. 

With no written or oral objections presented,  a resolution to amend the City’s Budget for fiscal year 2018-2019 was adopted.

Police Chief Mike Halse presented a request for the purchase of computers from Monona Computer Center in the amount of $2,323.08 for the Police Department. Following a motion by Mary Engstrom and a second by Mary Straate, the motion carried unanimously. The purchase will be taken from the Police Department budget.

An educational program requesting funds from Winneshiek County Solid Waste Education Program was approved. This request takes place on an annual basis.

As part of the consent agenda the following reports were accepted: police, swimming pool, public works, library.

A pay request of $297,044.15 for the Wastewater treatment facility improvements to Wapasha Construction was approved.

A pay request from Municipal Pipe Tool in the amounts of $152,609.24 and $50,298.79 for sanitary  sewer rehab phase two were approved. The pay requests were also under the consent agenda.

A public hearing on the city budget for fiscal year 2019-20 will be held at the next regular council meeting which is scheduled for March 11 at 7 p.m.
