Pirates defeat Central and fall to Clayton Ridge

The Pirates hosted Central in their home gym last Tuesday night in a game where both teams struggled to get any offense going. The Pirates put up eight points in the first quarter to take an 8-4 lead. The final score was 21-16 with Postville shooting 23% from the field and Central only 14%.

Owen Jacobson had 12 of the Pirate points, including two three pointers. He also had an assist. Mason Smith had six points and Blake Wettleson had two. Gavin Ruckdaschel had three assists and Nash Reicks added two.

Coach Mike Sass said, “The game started out pretty slow for us and continued that way for the entire game. We were able to hit a couple of threes in the first quarter to get us going. This was probably our poorest offensive outing of the year. We did not shoot the ball well and we turned it over too many times. We weren’t strong with the ball. We didn’t make crisp passes and we didn’t see the court very well. We have a lot of room to improve on the offensive end.”
