Pirate wrestlers perform above expectations at North Butler tournament Saturday

Saturday the Pirates traveled to North Butler to wrestle in the Doug Trees Invitational.  Five guys wrestled in the JV tournament and 4 guys wrestled in the varsity tournament. 

On the JV side the Pirates were able to  bring home four medals including three first place finishes and one second place finish. Tony Vazquez finished first at 113.  

Coach Mueller said, “He dropped a weight this week and looked like he adapted on Saturday. He won a close match and in his second match he dominated.”

Hayden Mielke at 132 also took first. He had two dominating matches. The coach said, “Hayden had really stepped up the last two weeks and is improving a lot.”
