PHS commencement to be held Sunday, May 19

Commencement exercises will be held Sunday, May 19 at 2:30 p.m. in the Postville High School Gymnasium.

Thirty-four students in the Class of 2019, having completed the requirements for graduation, as prescribed by the Board of Education, will receive their diplomas. 

The Class of 2019 has chosen the sunflower as their class flower and wine and gold as their class colors.

They have chosen, “You may not end up where you thought you were going, but you will always end up where you were meant to be”, a quote by Jessica Taylor as their class motto.

Pre-commencement music will be provided by the high school band under the direction of Shauna Marie Johnsen. They will also provide music at various other times during the ceremony. The chorus members will also provide a vocal selection.

Principal Brendan Knudtson will introduce the class and welcome those present.

Knudtson will introduce the salutatorian Litci Marroquin who will address her classmates and those present.

Drew Lubka, who is the valedictorian, also will speak to those in attendance.

Other students who are graduating with a 3.5 grade point average or above are Lindsay Davis, Heriberto De Haro, Harrison Dehning, Cody Loera, Kerr Lois Bastislaong Bulaquena.

Volunteer cords were earned by Drew Lubka, Kelsey Mucia, Alissa Rose and Brayan Silva.

Jeff Cox, president of the Board of Education, will present the diplomas to the members of the senior class.
