NEIA RSVP celebrates Senior Corps Week May 18-23 to celebrate volunteer programs

Senior Corps Week, May 18th-23rd is a week set aside by the Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS) to celebrate the great things that volunteers age 55 plus are doing across the Nation, including Northeast Iowa. The RSVP Volunteer Program is one of three CNCS programs that utilizes the skills and talents of retired and senior individuals who wish to share their talents and life-long learning experiences with their community. Northeast Iowa RSVP Volunteer Program is sponsored by the Decorah Public Library with volunteers serving in Allamakee, Howard and Winneshiek Counties.

The local RSVP program has a Healthy Futures focus with volunteers assisting with providing food for the hungry at food pantries in Decorah, Postville and Waukon.  Volunteers also deliver meals to the home bound in Decorah and Postville and pack food backpacks for low-income students in Decorah.
