Mock disaster held at Postville High School

A mock disaster was held at Postville Community Schools last Wednesday, April 20. It was held just a few days prior to Saturday night’s prom as a way to reinforce to students what can happen when people do not drive responsibly. 

Along with being reminded about the consequences of drunk driving, emphasis was also put on the dangers of texting and talking while driving.

Seven Postville High School students participated in the disaster which was initiated by local students who are members of the Allamakee Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition. Chris Dahlstrom, former emergency management director, who had orchestrated a similar event in Waukon a few years ago, helped them coordinate the disaster.
