Council hears from Schroeder during open forum; Bohr is reappointed fire chief

Bob Schroeder, a former Postville City Council member, addressed the Council during the open portion of the Monday, May 14 meeting. He offered congratulations to the Council and police for jobs well done. He did request that police patrol the area near Oak Drive as vehicles are not stopping in the areas designated by stop signs. He also expressed concern about vandalism to the rest rooms in Lull’s Park. His concerns will be taken under advisement.

A public hearing was held to comply with the Housing and Community Development Act of 1987. As part of the review it was noted that the project is 50% complete and accomplishments to date include work within the blower building and the process tank concrete  construction which is nearly finished. The compost facility has been relocated and a lot of the materials and equipment have been shipped to the job site.

It was further noted that the latest pay estimates are current which indicates the Community Development Block Grant reimbursable construction expenditures are $207,316 in terms of work completed and engineering/administrative expenditures are at $61,966.
