City Council will draft ordinance to allow ATV/UTV trail travel through Postville

The Postville City Council, meeting in regular session June 20, addressed several agenda items. With all other City officials  in attendance, council person Ross Malcom was absent.

Jeff Mitchell, a representative of the Allamakee County ATV Club, was present at the meeting to ask if the City would enact an ordinance which would allow ATV/UTV’s on county roadways. The newly formed club, Mitchell said, is establishing routes that will include some streets within the Postville City Limits. It was decided that trails will need to be marked similar to a snowmobile trail. Speed limits will be set a well. City attorney Anne Kruse will draft an ordinance for council approval.

Following a public hearing and the adoption of a resolution, property located at 507 W. Stoneman was sold to Cory Bacon for $1. Also in exchange for the property, Bacon will demolish two abandoned properties for the City at no cost.
