Castalia Tractor Day parade and presentation of Quilts of Valor

The annual Tractor Day parade was held Sunday as tractors of all makes and models ‘paraded’ through downtown Castalia. Along with tractors, there were also walking units and a few floats. Following the parade, food was served in the Castalia City Park, music was performed by Squirrel Tail and, following the Quilts of Valor presentation, the pies were auctioned off.

 

Quilts of Valor

Five Quilts of Valor were presented to deserving veterans at the Castalia City Park Sunday following the Tractor Day parade. Quilts were presented to Todd Conway, United States Army; Josh Burrett, United States Army; Leonard Schutte, United States Army; David Schneider, Vietnam veteran and Clifton Willey, United States Army. The quilts were made by the local Quilters for Veterans. Members of the group, who were present for the presentation, were Kathy Linderbaum, Betty Foels, Jane Blumhagen,  Sandy Koenig, Linda Hughes and Cindy Berns.
