Board of Education welcomes new secretary/treasurer; approves change orders for summer work

The Postville Board of Education, meeting in regular session Monday, July 10, welcomed the new Board of Education Secretary/Treasurer Melissa Fettkether. Fettkether, who replaces Clara Lensing, was administered the oath of office by Board President Jamie Smith.

Susie Merrifield was hired as middle school volleyball coach. Denise Voltmer will be teaching fifth grade.

Those hired as part of the 21st Century After School Grant Program were Jasmine Stocker, Rey Mucia, Joanna Smith, Tommy Chavez, Michaela Dehli and Jennifer Hermanson.

The resignation of Daryl Schultz as middle school volleyball coach and high school softball coach was accepted.

Terry Grotegut was moved from a second year bus driver to a third year bus driver which will increase his contract by 75 cents/route. This discrepancy occurred because Grotegut was not awarded one year of service during his first year with the district.

Student fees were approved for the 2017-2018 school year.

Those fees are: Book rent, K-12, $25; activity tickets, student, $30; adult, $60; family pass, $150; hot lunch/meal, student, $1.65; extra serving, $.60; adult meal, $3.55; milk, student, $.25; adult, $.30; breakfast/meal, student, $1.00; adult, $2.35; other: replacement padlock, $5.00; driver education, $220; laptop fee, $50.00; replacement of lunch ticket, $5.00.
