Bacon to be featured speaker at Memorial Day Program

The Annual Memorial Day observance will be held Monday, May 30 at St. Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall beginning at 10 a.m. The event is sponsored by the American Legion Post 518.

In lieu of reading the honor roll list of all area deceased veterans, their names will be displayed via a power point presentation beginning at 9:45 a.m. Gold Star Mothers will be recognized as well. 

The featured speaker will be Dwight Bacon, a U. S. Navy veteran. Dwight graduated from Postville High School in 1972 and entered the Navy in  June of 1972.

Large flags for the Avenue of Flags will be placed in the Postville Cemetery at 5 p.m. Friday, May 27. Prior to the placing of the flags for the Avenue of Flags, individual flags will be placed on Veterans’ graves at 4 p.m. In case of rain, flags will be put up at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Those willing to help should meet at the cemetery.

Flags will be taken down Monday, May 30 at 4 p.m. Anyone willing to help should meet at the shed for instructions 

Refreshments will be served after the program.
